Welcome to the premier edition of the Pennyslvania Diversity Council's quarterly newsletter. I have developed this newsletter to further my vision to make diversity happen in Pennsylvania. I foresee this newsletter developing into a valuable resource for our members and others interested in understanding and harnessing diversity, and in enjoying diversity dividends.
The newsletter is designed to be a medium of communications addressing: diversity in the workplace, marketplace and community; diversity benchmarking; diversity best practices; recruiting and retention; and recognizing diversity champions and change agents. While these are some initial areas we would like to highlight, I see us gradually expanding and covering emerging issues. I envision this newsletter filling some of the void in Pennsylvania when it comes to diversity communications and contributing to improvements in the lives of the area's citizens because many in Pennsylvania continue to be underrepresented in the workplace, marketplace and important public and private institutions.
For the first time in AT&T history — and quite possibly representing a first-of-its kind event in corporate America — more than 700 employees, representing the leadership of 10 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), converged on Dallas for the three-day event themed "Connecting Company, Customers and Communities."

What does it take to be a woman at the top of an organization today? The confidence to express one’s viewpoint, the experience and knowledge to achieve desired results, and the ability to inspire others to excel are among the few of the traits listed by the leaders in this edition’s tribute to women in leadership.
